Dzuka Lin, MSPT
My role as a Physical Therapist is simple. I guide and provide the tools patients need to get back to their functional lifestyles by educating the patient, engaging the patient in their individualized and progressive program, and preventing further injuries and problems in the future.
I received a Masters in Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. As a specialty, I studied neuromuscular imbalances in relation to functional movement patterns. As a tai chi instructor and practitioner, I enjoy integrating similar dynamic movement/balance patterns in my own therapy exercises. I am also a trained classical violinist, and am in a position to address the overuse and postural problems often incurred by musicians.
My Goal as a Physical Therapist is to get you to manage your dysfunction. Using a biomechanics approach to the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular system, I will apply my skills as a manual therapist and teach you exercises to promote long term carry-over of the treatments. I believe patient education and instruction in self-management are the key to regaining your lifestyle.
I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Florida. I am also Manual Therapy Certified, a certification earned by fewer than 1500 Physical Therapists worldwide. My interests lie in orthopedics, especially the spine, but I gladly treat every joint in the body. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy swimming, hiking, cycling, yoga, cooking and international travel.
Sue Machtley, DPT, MTC
As a physical therapist, I strive to engage patients in their treatment in order to enable them to regain control of their pain and function. I believe education is one of the most important tools to help a patient understand and manage their condition. During treatment, I focus on precision in both therapeutic exercise and functional movement to allow the patient to feel confident as they return to activity.
I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. I am trained to observe, identify and correct movement impairments in everyday activities which can lead to orthopedic conditions. As a former professional aerialist and professional dancer, I am aware of the unique problems and challenges facing all kinds of performing artists. I am interested in reaching out to these communities to demonstrate how physical therapy can help improve performance, reduce pain, and educate them on how to care for their bodies while under high demand.
Emily Scherb, DPT
I see my role as a Physical Therapist as an educator, teaching people about their body, how it optimally functions and its responses to acute and chronic stresses. I believe if people understand the mechanics of their pain/injury, they are empowered to manage, heal and prevent further injuries.
I received my Masters of Physical Therapy at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and am an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association. One of my special interests is treating the neuromuscular dysfunction that can occur during or as a result of pregnancy, or post partum. I also enjoy treating a variety of orthopedic issues and areas of the body. Outside the clinic, I'm busy enjoying the company of my 3 and 6 year old children, and like to ski, swim, and spend time at our family cabin.
